SPOOKY PICTURES AND IMAGE NATION ABU DHABI REVEAL NEXT FILM, ARCHANGEL FROM BRYAN HILL IN HIS DIRECTORIAL DEBUT
  • Producers of Box Office Hit ‘Late Night with the Devil’ and Critically Acclaimed ‘Watcher’ to Debut Next Project at Comic-Con International Next Week
  • Hill is developing an original graphic novel based around the film
  • Conor Leslie stars in lead role

Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi have announced their next film, Archangel, written and directed by screenwriter and comic book scribe Bryan Hill. A first look at the innovative horror, which stars Conor Leslie (Titans, Man in The High Castle) Greg Hovanessian (Cardinal), and Alyshia Ochse (True Detective), will be revealed at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con International.

In a first for an Image Nation Abu Dhabi/Spooky Pictures production, the film is based on a graphic novel set within the world of Archangel that Hill is developing, with the first artwork to be revealed at the Con.

Archangel centers on a privately-funded organization researching the possibility of life after death, targeted by an ancient entity that wants to keep mankind from understanding the true nature of the supernatural.

Director Bryan Hill said: “One of my dreams has always been to make a cinematic nightmare. Image Nation and Spooky Pictures are known for supporting emerging filmmakers, and I’m grateful to be working with them on this project.

“Conor’s performance is remarkable. It was an honor to work with her and the rest of the talented cast, and I’m looking forward to sharing our work.”

The Archangel announcement follows the box office success of Image Nation and Spooky Pictures’ first two productions – Watcher, the critically acclaimed thriller directed by Chloe Okuno and micro budget Late Night with the Devil, the horror smash-hit which became IFC Films’ highest-grossing opening weekend ever, surpassing $14M in the global box office.

The film, which also stars Azure Parsons (The Astronauts Wives Club) and Trevor Riley (Animal Kingdom), is produced by Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (Barbarian) and Steven Schneider (Insidious), Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy (Late Night with the Devil), and Kevlar Creative’s Julius Pryor and Bryan Hill. Executive producers are Ben Ross and Rami Yasin.

A first look at this upcoming film was premiered exclusively to audiences attending Comic-Con International in San Diego, with a dedicated panel featuring Hill, star Conor Leslie and Spooky Pictures’ Steven Schneider.
