Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani youth and human rights activist, is to appear on hit US TV talk show The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Malala will be appearing on the show for the second time, having appeared in 2013 (video right) and will be talking about her human rights work and the upcoming documentary He Named Me Malala.

Presented by Jon Stewart, the show regularly draws in an audience well into the millions.

The film is an intimate portrait of Malala Yousafzai, the 17 year old Nobel Peace Prize laureate who was targeted for speaking out on behalf of girls’ education in her region of Swat Valley in Pakistan, sparking international outrage.  (Yousafzai was wounded when Taliban gunmen opened fire on her and her friends’ school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.)  An educational activist in Pakistan, Yousafzai has since emerged as a leading campaigner for the rights of children worldwide and in December 2014, became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

The documentary, produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald under their long-term production partnership with Image Nation Abu Dhabi and co-financed by Participant Media, is directed by Davis Guggenheim and will be distributed world-wide by Fox Searchlight.

Malala appears on The Daily Show on Thursday June 18, for more information see here.
