Highly anticipated fantasy epic HWJN to hit cinema screens across Saudi Arabia on January 4

Announcement follows the film’s World Premiere on opening night at Red Sea International Film Festival 2023

Image Nation Abu Dhabi, VOX Studios and MBC STUDIOS today announced that the highly-anticipated film adaptation of bestselling fantasy romance novel HWJN will hit cinema screens across Saudi Arabia on January 4.

The world premiere of the movie, directed by Yasir Al Yasiri, was held yesterday on the opening night of The Red Sea International Film Festival 2023. The screening was attended by the director and cast, including Nour Alkhadra (The Matchmaker), Baraa Alem (The Sun of Gnosis, Route 10), Naif Aldaferi (Rashash), Alanoud Saud (Blackmail Note, Boxing Girls), Mansour Ash (Valley Road) and Majdi Alkadhi.

Adapted from the best-selling Young Adult fantasy novel by Ibraheem Abbas, HWJN combines Arabian folklore, elements of fantasy with modern themes. Set in modern-day Jeddah, the film follows the story of a kind-hearted jinn (Baraa Alem) as he discovers the truth about his royal lineage and sets off on an epic journey to reclaim his birthright and maintain the harmonious balance between his world and ours. Along the way, he meets and develops an unexpected romantic connection with Sawsan (Nour Alkhadra), a young medical student.

The film was written by Yasir Al Yasiri, Ibraheem Abbas, Sarah Taibah, and Hussam Alhulwah, and executive produced by Majid Al Ansari (Zinzana) and Saad Al Albutaily (Cherry). The film was produced by Al Yasiri through his production company, Axx productions. The book was published by Yatakhayaloon, founded by Yasser Bahjatt and Ibraheem Abbas.

HWJN is one of the biggest projects to date under a landmark production partnership launched in 2019 by Image Nation Abu Dhabi; MBC STUDIOS, of MBC GROUP; and VOX Studios, three of the region’s most significant entities in the content and entertainment sector.
